Changes Due to Fire in St John Stone House
Unfortunately, in the early hours of 25th September 2014, a fire broke out in
the upper floor of St John Stone House.
Luckily, nobody was injured, but the fire and the extinguishing water have
caused considerable damage to the building.
We are in the process of recovering and tidying up, and repair works are under
way. Nevertheless, it will take quite some time until our chaplaincy building
is fully operational again. Therefore, all Cathsoc activities which normally
take place at St John Stone House will now be at the
Franciscan International Study Centre. This
arrangement will be in place until St John Stone House can be used again,
probably for most of the academic year 2014/15.
Please don’t let this get you down. Even though the location has temporarily
changed, we can still live the Cathsoc spirit as we have done for so many years

of all societies on campus. And the best of all — Cathsoc membership is entirely
