First Mass of Term
New Term... New Programme...
Meet up with old (and new) friends as we enjoy a Free Wine & Cheese Evening at
St John Stone House around The Barque Inn.
Each year during Spring Term and Summer Term, we share the Internationalism of
the Catholic Church — and the Cathsoc at the University of Kent in particular — by
celebrating our International Masses. On these Sundays, different ‘flavours’
transform our celebrations. The Mass, its songs, prayers and readings are all in a
particular language; whilst our Pot-luck Lunch continues the same theme with a
gourmet meal — with the best dish of that country/region prepared for us!|
If you would like to help organising an International Mass, please contact
Fr Peter as soon as possible. In previous years, we celebrated
African, French, German, Hispanic, Italian and Polish Masses, and we hope to
repeat their success in the years to come. Moreover, we also encourage groups from
other countries/regions/languages to join in and to show their commitment as well!
Of Gods and Men

story of a group of Cistercian monks living in a remote mountain of North Africa and

Ascension Day [Holy Day of Obligation]
By decision of the Bishops of England and Wales, Ascension Day is now celebrated on the
Sunday following the actual date (which would have been Thursday 2nd June). Therefore,
we will celebrate this Holy Day during our usual Sunday Mass at 11:30am at the
Franciscan International Study Centre followed by our
Pot-luck Lunch at St John Stone House.
Another Chance to Relax...
For a couple of hours, forget those exams and revision and relax in front of our
‘surround sound’ screen watching “Waking Ned” — A whole village needs to
be persuaded that it has won the lottery: Very Irish; and Very Funny! (Or if people
prefer, another video of their choice.)
Our Last Mass of Term — Pentecost Sunday
On Pentecost Sunday at 11:30 (sadly) our last Mass of term followed by our famous
Going-down Barbecue — our final Pot-luck Lunch with all the special atmosphere
of St John Stone House and the end of a wonderful academic
Vive Valeque Cathsoc...
Our last Cathsoc meeting of this academic year. A chance to say ‘au revoir’ or
‘farewell’ and reminisce over the year gone by...
