International Masses
Each year during Spring Term and Summer Term, we share the Internationalism of
the Catholic Church — and the Cathsoc at the University of Kent in particular — by
celebrating our International Masses. On these Sundays, different ‘flavours’
transform our celebrations.
The Mass, its songs, prayers and readings are all in a particular language; whilst our
Pot-luck Lunch continues the same theme with a gourmet meal — with the best
dish of that country/region prepared for us!
In previous years, we celebrated African, French, German, Hispanic, Italian and
Polish Masses. We hope to repeat their success in the years to come.
Moreover, we also encourage groups from other countries/regions/languages to
join in and to show their commitment as well!

Char-à-banc to Cambridge
Cambridge — “The other place” (as they say in Oxford) — invites us
each Summer Term to enjoy their hospitality. We go as guests of the
Fisher Society (that is the Cathsoc
equivalent at Cambridge University).
Although the day is free to explore by ourselves, we are welcome to visit their base at
Fisher House, celebrate Mass, have a buffet lunch, and go punting on the Cam in
the afternoon. All this, plus more bookshops & pubs than you can count, ensures an
enjoyable and rewarding day away from the stress and strain of pending exams!

NOT the Union Ball...
Our final chance to relax and party together. This is NOT the Union
Ball, but the day before!
Enjoy the music of world famous bands (on CD)! Feast on
Internationally renowned cuisine (from the local take-away)! Dance till
dawn and romantically watch the sun rise (over the garden fence)!
All this... And more... “From Eight till (very!) late...” Not at
£50 a ticket... Not at even 50p a ticket... BUT free!

Going-down Barbecue
“All good things” — sadly — “come to an end”, and that is even
true of the Cathsoc year. But if we have to end ... we end in style!
On our last Sunday of Summer Term we have our free Going-down Barbecue.
Enjoying the ambiance of the garden at St John Stone
House, we say (often with tears in our eyes) ‘au revoir’
to our friends and reflect on another wonderful Cathsoc year.
But we do so knowing that the friends and experiences of our time at the Cathsoc at
Kent will remain with us for the rest of our lives...
