The Cathsoc Week
[ Sunday |
Every Sunday at 11:30, we have our Sunday Mass at the
Franciscan Centre. It is the major spiritual event of
the week, and thanks to Father Peter and our
choir, it is always very lively and memorable.
Mass is always followed by our Pot-luck Lunch at
St John Stone House. We are “Better than a Bistro... Cheaper than the
Campus...” — for a small contribution of £4, you’ll get a good
meal among friends.
Often Cathsoc members prepare the Sunday meals, and everybody is welcome to
help in the kitchen — even if it is just for the washing-up afterwards.
Tuesday is the main weekday in Cathsoc life. It is when we have our weekly
meetings at St John Stone House. Cathsoc meetings
are a always good way to get together in a friendly atmosphere, meet friends, celebrate
Mass together, listen to interesting talks, chat away at the bar, or even have a party
from time to time.
Our timetable follows the same format every week:
| 5:45pm ||
Open House — Mingle with your friends with free tea and coffee|
| 6:00pm ||
Catholicism for the Curious in the chapel|
| 6:40pm ||
Mass in the chapel|
| 7:10pm ||
SVP Group meeting in the chapel|
| 7:30pm ||
Speaker/Main event — see our Term Programmes for details|
| 8:30pm ||
Conversazione around The Barque Inn — Relax ‘from Eight till late’|
Remember our slogan: “Come when you can... Go when you want...” Nothing of
our programme is compulsory, and everybody is welcome to come and go whenever they
want. St John Stone House is an open place for everyone.
Every Thursday at 1:30pm, there is a Mass in
Eliot Chapel. We always ensure that it finishes before 2pm, so that people with
lectures at 2pm won’t miss them.
Mass is followed by the Rosary, starting at 2pm, to which everyone is welcome
On Fridays at 7:30pm, we have our choir rehearsal at
St John Stone House. Everybody is welcome to join the
choir — whether you play an instrument or want to sing.
Rehearsals on Friday are usually about one hour long. On Sunday
morning just before Mass, we have another quick rehearsal to ‘freshen up’ what we
practiced on Friday.
